Families Make an Heirloom Birthday Crown
Birthday Crown Making
A Heirloom Crown Workshop for Families
Join us at small talk city for a day of relaxed, hands-on crafting where families create beautiful, heirloom birthday crowns designed to grow with your child year after year.
Each family will begin crafting a custom wool felt crown, thoughtfully designed to reflect the things your child loves most — favorite animals, flowers, seasonal treasures, trains, moons, strawberries, or whatever makes this year special. These crowns become a meaningful tradition and keepsake to bring out at every birthday celebration.
For Adults
With guidance from maker and mother Tawny Holt, adults will learn simple hand-stitching techniques using 100% wool felt to begin constructing and decorating their crown. You’ll use approachable, beginner-friendly stitching methods. Tawny will provide instruction and all materials needed, along with extra supplies so you can continue and finish your crown at home if needed.
For Children (0–5)
Children will decorate pre-prepared felt crown bases using ribbons, trims, and simple embellishments alongside Small Talk City owner Jilly. Caregivers are encouraged to assist younger children, while older children may decorate more independently. Babies and toddlers are warmly welcome with a caregiver.
After crafting, we’ll gather for a light snack and tea, followed by a short story together.
All materials and supplies are included.
