Grownups Darn Socks with Van (Sunday)
In this cozy craft workshop, you'll learn how to darn holes and threadbare areas in your socks using common household items as darning eggs, along with beginner-friendly embroidery floss and needles to practice with. Van will also share tips on selecting the right thread types and needles for your personal sock collection. Whether you’re new to sewing or just curious about visible mending, this class will guide you through ways to reinforce thinning areas and weave colorful patches over holes—offering warmth and new life to your favorite pairs. This is a great, meditative skill and hobby to pick up ahead of colder seasons!
Please Note: Saturday & Sunday require their own reservations. You are welcome to buy tickets for either or both workshops if you'd like to deepen your skill. We will offer a 10% discount if you sign up for both workshops.
Materials/Setup: Includes two colors of beginner friendly embroidery thread, a needle, and a printed reference guide and resource list. Communal scissors, elastic bands, and household darning eggs will be available for shared use during the workshop.
What to Bring/Prepare: Bring a few pairs of socks in need of some TLC. All other materials will be provided.
About the Artist: Over the past decade, Van’s journey through fashion has shifted from industrial manufacturing to a more intentional, sustainability-minded practice. Rather than build a low-waste brand, she embraces garments with lived-in histories—mending, upcycling, and altering clothing in a slow, joyful process shaped by wear, chance, and curiosity.
How it works:
Adults focus on sock darning with Van while children play nearby in a shared space. Caregivers remain present and available. This is not childcare. A simple morning snack and tea are included.
Children ages 8+ may join the mending work for an additional $20. Younger children are welcome to play; simple handwork will be available.
