The Kitchen Witch Gathering

SMALL TALK CITY PRESENTS THE KITCHEN WITCH GATHERING At Heart & Hands Farm Petaluma, California Saturday, October 10th

A Fall day devoted entirely to magic on the farm.

A day of potions and medicine-making with Farmer Julie. After some bone-broth and saying hello to the animals we will gather herbs, peel, chop, and cook a great batch of fire cider and elderberry syrup together.

We share a pizza-and-herb-salad lunch, watch a puppet tale of healing, and spend the afternoon riding a pony, making corn husk dolls, enjoying potion play, and learning moreherb-lore.

Before the sunsets we bottle our potions to carry home and pour our own elderberry syrup over yummy Strauss ice cream.

From first warm cup to sticky sweet goodbyes, the kitchen witch carries us through our day. 

Families will leave with medicines for the winter and the ability to make their own for years to come.

MORNING · GATHER & BREW

9:00 Arrival Warm beverages, sipping bowls of bone broth, and herby crackers. Meet the animals.

9:30 A Walk Up the Hill Pick the herbs for our fire cider and elderberry syrup, and learn what each one heals.

10:15 Group Medicine-Making Peel, chop, and cook a great shared batch of fire cider and elderberry syrup.

11:00 Pizza & Herb Salads Wood-fired pizza and a salad of healing greens and herbs. Eat well — there's always more.

AFTERNOON · PLAY & HERB-LORE

12:30–3:00 Spend the afternoon as you choose:

• Pony and horseback rides
• Corn husk doll making
• Potion play at the bubbling cauldron — petals, herbs, and water for little witches
• An herbalism circle — the stories and ways of healing plants

Plus animal visits and a grazing table that stays full all afternoon.

THE KITCHEN TABLE

3:00 Bottle the Potions & Strauss Ice Cream Post-nap, bottle your own fire cider and elderberry syrup to take home — then pour fresh elderberry syrup over scoops of Strauss ice cream. Relax until five.

5:00 We part ways with green-stained fingers, bottles of medicine, and a day among the herbs.

Bring An apron for the potion-work, clothes that can get herb-stained, and sturdy shoes for the walk up the hill. A small collection of kitchen-witch aprons will also be for sale at the gathering.
